The Jerusalem Initiative

The Jerusalem Initiative

We at the Institute for Middle East Peace and Development, along with friends and partners in peace, are dedicated to bringing the issue of Jerusalem into the forefront of civic and religious dialogue in the United States and abroad.

We are dedicated to the understanding that the issues surrounding Jerusalem must be solved in a manner that is respectful to all traditions and their values.

We are dedicated helping Jerusalem fulfill its destiny to be a city that contains a place of dignity for all residents, regardless of their national and political identities.

We are dedicated to the preservation of Jerusalem as a home to all three Abrahamic faiths: Islam, Christianity and Judaism.

We are dedicated to the proposition that Jerusalem must be open to the faithful of all three Abrahamic faiths and to their freedom to fulfill their religious obligations.

We are dedicated to the certainty that having a religious perspective that seeks to make Jerusalem a city of peace and a haven for the three Abrahamic faiths is an essential prerequesite for reconciliation.

We are dedicated to the knowledge that the future of Jerusalem is not an obstacle to the achievement of peace between two states, Israel and Palestine; rather, we believe that making Jerusalem a city of peace can be a major shared goal of all local and global parties that would be the capstone of such a peace.
